WORSHIP LEADER

REPORTS TO:         Senior Pastor, Personnel Committee

CLASSIFICATION: Salaried, Exempt

​

POSITION SUMMARY

  1. The Worship Leader is responsible for proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and planning, coordinating and administering a comprehensive music ministry for the church.

 

REQUIREMENTS

General

  1. A born again believer having a strong and consistent relationship with God

  2. A calling from God to the music ministry

  3. Understanding of church operations

  4. Possess significant knowledge of the Christian education and training system and process.

  5. Interpersonal communication skills

  6. Administrative skills

  7. Church membership

 

Educational

  • Professional training in Church music, with an emphasis in music education. 

  • Should possess a minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college; as well as a willingness to continue higher education.

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in Christian music ministry

  • Prefer experience in Christian music and education

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Participate in regularly scheduled Sunday services and other special services as required. 

  2. Assist the pastor in planning, conducting and evaluating the worship services of the church.

  3. Plan, organize direct, and promote a year-round music program to serve all age groups and church functions.

  4. Train, develop, and supervise all Music Ministry personnel.

  5. Actively lead the enlistment of persons for the church music ministry.

  6. Coordinate the training and use of instrumentalists and vocalists, both individually and in groups.

  7. Manage and submit an accurate and timely annual plan and budget as it relates to the each specific ministry.

  8. Keep informed on current music methods, materials, promotion and administration, utilizing them where appropriate.

  9. Maintain a printed music library, related documents, the church’s musical instrument and related equipment inventory.

  10. Coordinate all special events as pertains to worship.

  11. Prepare a yearly budget that promotes growth and direction in Music Ministry.

  12. Review all special music to be presented during the worship services to ensure appropriateness.

  13. Available for after hour’s hospital visitation and evangelistic visitation.

  14. Dress professionally.

Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
