CHILDREN’S MINISTER

 

REPORTS TO:         Pastor, Personnel Team

CLASSIFICATION: Full-time

POSITION SUMMARY 

Responsible for development and execution of a comprehensive program of Christian development and education for Children/Preschool.  Furthermore, responsible for overseeing any paid workers.  Consult with other staff and program leaders concerning activities in their areas when children/preschoolers are involved.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with and experience in leading a variety of programs for children.  Ability to plan, organize, train, and supervise program and event leaders.  Ability to manage and provide direction to Teachers and lay leadership in the Preschool/Children department. 

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Work with other program leaders and directors in developing a comprehensive program of spiritual, educational, physical, and emotional development for the children, their parents or guardians.

  2. Survey the needs and consider realistically the areas of concern to be included in a ministry to children; advise of optimal ministry options.

  3. Plan, coordinate, conduct, and evaluate special events such as camps, retreats, banquets, fellowships, etc.

  4. Oversee the planning, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating of preschool/children’s special events.

  5. Conduct special training projects for Children/Preschool workers.

  6. Oversee the conducting of special training projects for Children/Preschool workers.

  7. Advise in the use of program materials, equipment, supplies, and space by children’s groups in all Church program organizations; make budget recommendations for a viable children’s ministry.

  8. Keep informed of new trends in Children’s Ministries and seek to enrich all facets of ministry to children.

  9. Lead the recruitment, training, and allocation of human resources for an efficient ministry to the children of the church and community. 

  10. Provide the leadership to encourage participation by all children in the ministry opportunities of the church.

  11. Manage submit an accurate and timely annual budget in regards to related ministries.

  12. Available for after-hours hospital visitation, special events, and evangelistic visitation.

  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.
