Pastoral Ministry Internships

A New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Student interested in gaining a variety of field experience in the areas of ministry in the church. As a summer intern, you will develop and enhance the skill set for a variety of ministry areas in the church, including children's ministries, student ministries, worship ministry, media ministry, local missions, preaching and teaching, outreach, and guest assimilation. You will work with a variety of staff members in getting a well-rounded idea of what it means to serve in different staff roles in a large church setting, under the direction of the Executive Pastor. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a large and growing church from the inside - experiencing how the work is done on a daily basis.
The summer intern will serve in a variety of team settings, with responsibilities that include:
- Help plan the church's annual Love Out Loud mission week, which involves hundreds of people from dozens of churches doing various kinds of mission work throughout the city of Meridian. The intern will work with the Missions Pastor and the LOL Lead team to plan and implement the week.
- Help plan and facilitate the church's Vacation Bible School, working with the Children's Director to organize the week’s events.
- Work with Student Pastor and Student Intern in planning and implementing student activities during the summer.
- Work with the staff guest assimilation team in reaching out and connecting guests with ministries in the church.
- Help plan and implement Senior adult activities alongside the Senior Adults Director
- Learn the ins and outs of planning a worship service in conjunction with the Worship Pastor.
- Develop a better understanding of how media ministry works and how it relates to other ministries in the church, in conjunction with the Director of Operations.
- Potentially have opportunities to teach and/or preach under the direction of the Senior Pastor and Executive Pastor.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in a variety of ministries in the church, a desire to learn from the people doing the work, and a Christlike character. He must be in agreement with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.
